For over thirty years, Marguerite taught grade four, and Rose kept the books at a small architecture firm — the kind of jobs where you take care of everyone else and forget to ask what you need. We're sisters, three years apart, and we've been close ever since.

Every winter, we drove up to Whistler. Somewhere on that last stretch of road, with the mountains opening up, we'd finally slow down. And every year, we said the same word to each other: someday.

Then one December, a little shop came up for lease in the village. We called that same morning. That was seven wonderful years ago.

Now, in our seventies, it's time to retire.

Not because something went wrong.
